The concept of sustainable development, introduced over three decades ago, has become integral to contemporary science, policymaking, and business practices. However, the world has undergone substantial transformations since the late 1980s. This necessitates a reevaluation of sustainability’s relevance in the first half of the 21st century and its implications for the future. In alignment with the vision of ISDRS’s new journal, the conference’s central theme, ‘Sustainability and Beyond’, aims to examine the evolution of the concept of sustainable development and its relevance for future generations. Visionary keynote speakers and interdisciplinary discussions will provide a platform to identify and critically analyze the most pressing global trends and their sustainability implications and to consider innovative perspectives and ideas.
